Is there any place left in America where you can shop and get great customer service anymore? And by that I mean, from the moment you enter the door until the time you checkout and leave, nothing about you're experience was negative? The answer is no. There is a reason the answer is no and it's probably more diabolical than you think. The reason you have mediocre or less shopping experiences is because of you. Yes, it is because of you. I'll explain why but first let me quote the movie Clerks, "This job wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for all the customers." That's paraphrasing, I can't remember it verbatim but it gets the point across. Anyone who was going to contact me to tell me that's not how it went just hold your water, I know that. Besides, the way it was said in the movie can't be posted here anyway.
The thing you have to remember is that the people doing these jobs are human beings just like you. Some average, and depending on what shift is on duty at the time you go in there, some below average. The key is this, if you want to have a pleasant shopping experience and want great customer service, don't be a jerk the second you walk in the door. A lot of people go into these places with the attitude that if they are going to spend their hard earned money they demand great service. I can understand that to a point. But just because you're spending money doesn't qualify you to a hearty round of making people play step and fetch for you. Most of us will never have the kind of money that will make someone do that. You certainly won't be dropping that kind of money at the grocery store or the Wal-Mart. If you are than you need to get help.
People will respond in kind to whatever you throw at them most of the time. If you don't believe me just try it sometime. If you walk into an establishment and they have someone greeting people at the door, they will smile and greet you when you come in. If you smile back and give them a simple thank you, you will have started the chain of a positive endeavor. If you walk in with a sour puss look on your face and not so much as crack a smile when you are greeted, if you pay close enough attention, they will lose the smile on the their face and the sing songy tone to their voice. Why should they
