No matter the time of year something is always going on. Some sort of special event or holiday is just around the corner and you have yet another gift you need to buy for a friend or family member. Lucky for you the most recent recipient is a crafter, more specific, he or she likes to knit and or crochet. The great thing about these people is that they making shopping easy. There are many quick and easy gifts for the creative people in your life.
Yarn. It is the staple of one who knits or crochets. Every crafter loves to have extra yarn on hand for projects. They can use it for quick handmade gifts if need be, or to make something special for themselves. Want to spoil them? Check out a yarn specialty store. Buy a nice silk ribbon for something unique or a quality natural fiber for something soft and cozy. Talk to the sales clerk, and make sure you buy enough that they can make a full sweater or afghan. Dye lots can make a world of difference. Want to go a bit crazier, or perhaps you are strapped for cash this month? Try a thrift store. Stock up on different styles and type of yarn. Your yarn lover will be thrilled at the prospect of a scrap yarn rug, afghan or other project. No matter what you buy, be careful with this. Some crafters do thread crocheting, which means tiny hooks and thin, thread-like yarn. Know your crafter.
Books. Pattern books, technique books, leaflet patterns, even books on the history of the craft will be warmly accepted. But, try to think about the projects your crafter does. Afghans? Sweaters? Pick out a book that will have patterns they will love. An afghan person will probably find little use with a book on sweaters. The great part about this is you can find many old books at thrift stores, or online at places that sell used books at much lower prices. Pair a couple of these older ones, with a couple newer pattern books, or leaflets and your crafter’s eyes will light up with the prospect of going through all their new patterns.
Subscriptions. What can I say, crafters love them. And it is the gift that keeps on giving. A one year or two year subscription to a crochet or knitting magazine means that once a month (or once every three months depending on the magazine) they will get a set of fresh new patterns to look through, not to mention the articles on their craft and new resources to events and stores.
Hooks, needles and extra supplies. Crocheting and knitting does not require only one pair of knitting needles, or one crochet
