The top snowboarders to watch at the 2010 Winter Olympics

While snowboarding is a popular sport around the world, it is relatively new to the Olympic Games. All the great talent comes together during the Olympic season, but there are some snowboarders that are standouts among the crowd.

Philipp Schoch

Growing up in Switzerland, Philipp Schoch had the ideal backdrop to perfect his snowboarding techniques. Before winning the World Cup title in 2005, Philipp earned 10 other victories. One of those victories was Olympic gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games. He had to work hard to defend the Olympic gold title four years later at the 2006 Turin Games.

Simon Schoch

One of the snowboarder Philipp has to watch out for is older brother, Simon. During the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, Simon placed 25th overall. With dedication and hard work, he grabbed Olympic silver at the 2006 Turin Games. From there he maintained top standings in the World Cup Slalom in 2006 and 2007. He even took home gold at the 2007 world championships.

Matthew Morison

Learning his snowboarding technique while growing up in Burketon, Ontario, Matthew Morison is confident that all his hard work will pay off during the 2010 Olympic season. New to the Winter Games, he has worked hard to establish himself in the senior circuit. During his first two Wolrd Cup season, Matthew found himself with seven podium finishes.

Siegfried Grabner

Born in Austria, Siegfried Grabner is another Olympic contender to watch. During the 2003 world championships, Siegfried took home the gold. He has been to the Olympics three times already and has improved his Olympic standings over time. At the 1998 Nagano Games, he placed 23rd. With the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, he improved his position to 7th. During the 2006 Turin Games, he found podium success with a bronze medal.

Jasey-Jay Anderson

Jasey-Jay hails from Mt. Tremblant, Quebec. This will be Anderson’s fourth time at the Olympics. He is hoping to fulfill his dream of  an Olympic medal this year, especially in his home country. He has won world championships in downhill events three times. He has also found previous success at Whistler in the slalom events at the 2005 worlds. At the beginning of the 2009 season, Jasey-Jay has racked up 22 World Cup victories.

Sandra Frei
Although Sandra Frei has yet to establish herself in the Olympics arena; she has been getting recognition in the World Cup circuit. Hailing from Switzerland, Sandra earned a silver medal at the 2007 world championships in her home country. She also
