One, two, Freddy’s comin for you, three, four, better lock your door, five, six grab your crucifix, seven, eight better stay up late, nine, ten never sleep again …..ch ch ch ha ha ha ch ch ch ha ha ha
These are the sounds that have been making the hair on the back our necks stand up since 1980 when the opening of Friday the 13th came out in cinemas and 1984 when A Nightmare on Elm Street hit the big screen.
In 2003, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger the most popular horror movie icons come together in a winner takes all battle FREDDY VS JASON…
It’s been way too long since the last nightmare or Friday the 13th movie has been made, so seeing these 2 come together is a real treat for all slasher film fans, including myself, though we all knew Freddy and Jason would come back sooner or later, I mean, true evil never dies right?
The movie starts off with Freddy played by Robert Englund, going through how he came about, which is great for people who have never seen these movies before, it also goes through little snippets of past Elm St movies to give the viewer more of an idea.
Fred Krueger is dead and gone due to the number of children made to forget about him, if he is not remembered or feared, then he doesn't exist, but Freddy has ways around that.
Jason Voorhees played by ken kirzinger, is dead also, Jason’s motivation comes from his mother (Pamela Voorhees) who was brutally be headed by a councillor on the camp grounds of Crystal Kake, ever since, Jason has taken revenge on anybody who have entered Crystal Lake and if you do drugs or have pre marital sex, you're just making it worse for yourself and asking for trouble..
Anyway back to Freddy, Freddy has worked out that if he can make people remember him, he can then start his reign of terror by invading young teenagers dreams, but until then the only head he can enter is Jason, so Freddy portrays himself as Jason's mother, and tells him to rise from the dead to punish the children on Elm St…therefore everybody would think it's Freddy has returned.. And hey presto! Freddy is once again feared by the town of Springwood… damn he’s good isn't he...
Now this is where the fun begins mwuhahahah!
It all turns bad when Jason ends up killing one of Freddy's first kills and Freddy to say the least gets real pissed off, Jason is already 100%, so he’s got nothing to worry about, but for Freddy to regain his full strength, he needs kills under his belt and without those Freddy is harmless.. But between Freddy’s razor sharp claws and Jason's razor sharp machete, no one will be safe awake or asleep..
Horror fans have been waiting over 10 years for these 2 slasher icons to join up, but the wait is finally over, for anyone who has not seen it I think you're going to absolutely love it, between Ronnie Yu ( the director), Wes Craven ( the writer of the original nightmare on elm street) and Sean Cunningham (the writer for the original Friday the 13th) they have done a remarkable job, finally bringing Freddy and Jason together. However, since the release of Freddy vs. Jason which was released in 2003, the horror continued in 2009 with the remake of Friday the 13th and fans everywhere are still waiting for the release of the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, due to come out this year midway of 2010
To all the fans out there I hope you enjoy this movie as much as I did , but one word of advice, whatever you do….DON'T...FALL…ASLEEP
