House flies can be annoying and dangerous. They can be very hard to get rid of and cause a lot of frustration during the summer months when too many baby flies hover around the dinner table! House flies can make you feel very unwell. Fortunately, they do not bite but still cause a lot of damage to our health. They carry different forms of bacteria and viruses and can cause diarrhoea, food poisoning, cholera and much more! These flies sit and spread their nasty germs onto our food and it enters our body while were eating, causing us to fall ill.
Nevertheless, there are ways we can get rid of them and secure our home from these invaders. Let’s read below.
Flies eat sewage and rubbish!
Flies like eating dirt and sewage is their favourite. They prefer laying their eggs in rotten places including dust bins bags. Some people do keep their dust bins close their homes which brings the smell into their homes. Flies are attracted to the smell as well as the dirt and follow in behind. Thus, this leads to a higher invasion of flies. To avoid the invasion and the smell, always keep the dust bin and the bags far away. Throw away any rotten or expired food immediately and re-clean the dust bins a few times a week to reduce odour. You do realize that bad food releases stinky odours which will also attract more flies.
Maintaining pets in your yard!
Most of you may also have a number of pets living with you. Do not place your litter box in your yard as this will attract more flies and will make your garden into a fly home due to both the smell and the sewage. These flies will come directly into your home and contaminate food, increasing your family’s chance of food poisoning.
If you’re struggling for a suitable location, the best option to place a litter box is to find an area where your cat can have some privacy. However, it is wise to secure a place where your cat finds it easy to reach or it will abandon the location.
Keep your kitchen doors and windows closed at night while you cook!
It may be that you keep your windows and doors open while you cook at night. A kitchen can become very stuffy and humid as a result of hot steam released by pans and cookers. If you prefer leaving your door open, make sure there’s enough space for air to pass through but never open it too wide! Flies are attracted to light and you will quickly get many of them into your home.
Careful of Flies!
During late spring and summer, fruit flies can become a real problem. They love eating rotting fruit and can lay up to 500 eggs at a time on anything they sit upon. There are ways to remove fruit flies, find out more through the link provided.
Summary
Overall, house flies can do much more damage despite the fact that they don’t bite. However, the health risks can be so severe that they can cause death from several diseases including Cholera, Typhoid Fever, Shigellosis and Escherichia Coli. Get rid of them before they get rid of you!
