Everyday I ponder the condition of the world.
There is greed, prejudice, hatred, and violence.
They are at the forefront replacing compassion and love.
I look at my neighbors with suspicion and doubt.
An act of kindness puts me in a state of awe at the rarity.
I am suspicious of the hidden agenda behind the acts.
I am unable to express my gratitude because of mistrust.
One should be able to accept goodness as commonplace.
When I am compelled to perform an act of kindness, I question it.
I am forced to ask myself what is the backlash of the act.
How will it hurt or endanger me or my family if I do the things I should?
We are taught to help our fellow man, but it has become almost impossible.
I am forced to look at my neighbors with skepticism.
I am leery of anyone who looks a little different.
I must be hesitant about making new friends.
I’d rather be able to reach out and enlarge my social circle.
In order to cope with such conditions, I can only pray for better times.
I will treat each situation by doing what God leads me to do.
I will approach each one with caution but kindness.
I will hope for a better world and try to be a better me.

and we lay there
we had it all
neither
When we enter our own world
And the world outside starts to disappear
You make me feel like you don’t know any other
