The Jehovah Witnesses are a semi religious cult (witnesses would argue no doubt) that was established in the 1800's by Taze Russel. What set the witnesses apart from the rest of the religious groups, under the Christian banner, are their unorthodox doctrines. What many people, even non religious would find strange of what the witnesses believe. Some of the Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs are described below.
1. Refusing to accept blood. The witnesses will refuse to accept blood even under the direst circumstances, for they believe that Jesus was the blood that represented life and that no one is worthy to receive the blood.
2. Refusing to celebrate holidays. (Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, birthdays, Halloween, etc.) The witnesses' blatant refusal to celebrate popular holidays is due to their perception of the holidays being derived from pagan worship. The witnesses view pagans to be unscriptural for pagan worship and celebration is to honour their gods/goddesses and the witnesses happened to be monotheistic. (Worshipping only one god) They absolutely adhere to abstaining from popular worship for they deemed it as worshipping the devil or Satan.
The Jehovah's Witnesses carry a different doctrine that is evident in their teachings and their beliefs .Their place of worship is called "The Kingdom Hall". They have the belief in," take no part of the world" that is evident in the behaviour. They take no part of government, don't run for office, no voting is permitted, and no association with outsiders other than preaching is permitted. If a witness is in violation of any of the policies, they are "disfellowshipped" which means they are no longer part of the organisation and they are shunned by fellow worshippers.
Armageddon is coming. This is the fundamental belief that encompasses just about 100% of their doctrine. Armageddon is the forthcoming event in which Michael, the arch angel, (Jesus' heavenly name) will come down to earth and destroy the wicked inhabitants of the earth. After the wicked ones had been destroyed, as the doctrine continues, they will live forever in paradise on Earth, back in the state of perfection, as it was originally intended, and enjoy the fruits of life.
