Sometimes, especially when you're single, love songs and Valentine's Day are just disgusting. Revolting. I've spent all but one Valentine's Day single and bitter, and I have a collection of songs I like to listen to for the occasion. Anti-Valentine's Day songs aren't sad, or mopey. No "woe is me". They're angry, bitter, and angsty. You don't want to miss love on this day; you want to say you're better off without it. This is a rocker/metalhead's list of top ten anti-Valentine's Day songs:
10. "My Fork in the Road, Your Knife in My Back" by Atreyu: "Well I will never be your lover again! As far as I'm concerned we are not even friends! This may not seem to subtle to you. The point I'm trying to make is we are completely through!"
9. "Bonds In Which We Break" by the Autumn Offering: "I see you now and stare into your whore-stained eyes, and wonder how I could let you lead me to believe that you were someone good for me; you weren't. You're just another blood-sucking leech."
8. "I Don't Believe In Love" by Queensryche: "I don't believe in love. I never have, I never will. I don't believe in love. It's never worth the pain that you feel. I don't believe in love, I'll just pretend she never was real."
7. "The Bleeding" by Five-Fingered Death Punch: "Roses in a glass, dead and wilted. To you this all was nothing; everything to you is nothing. Well you're so filthy. I'm better off without you and you're better off without me. Well I'm so ugly. I'm better off without you and you're better off alone."
6. "Victim" by Eighteen Visions: "Hooked on your lies, you had me going. So gve me ONE good reason I should be forgiving you when I don't care anyway. So give me TWO good reasons I should be forgiving you when I'm the victim today."
5. "Dead Memories" by Slipknot: "You told me to love you and I did, tied my soul into a knot and got me to submit, so when I got away I only kept my scars. The other me is gone, now I don't know where I belong."
4. "Para-Noir" by Marilyn Manson: "F*ck you because I love you, f*ck you for loving you too. I don't need a reason to hate you the way I do."
3. "See You Dead" by Helmet: "I'd like to see you in two pieces. You won't be walking, barely breathing. I'd like to see you at my door; we're together like before. I could miss you more right now, or I could slit your throat."
2. "Head Like a Hole" by Nine Inch Nails: "Head like a hole, black like your soul, I'd rather die than give you control! Bow down before the one you serve; you're gonna get what you deserve!"
1."The Painkiller" by Bleeding Through: "Today I'm not crawling back. I won't crawl back again! I never loved you! I never cared! I never loved you! You won't f*ck the life out of me!"
