Why Shane McMahon could join TNA Wrestling and what it would mean for their battle with WWE

Shane McMahon is the son of Vincent Kennedy McMahon, the chairman and owner of World Wrestling entertainment. Shane has been a major part of the WWE both onscreen and off-screen for countless years and he was initially being groomed as the heir to McMahon’s wrestling empire that has been built up and expanded on for decades. However, Shane McMahon shocked the world in the later months of 2009 when he announced his resignation from the WWE to pursue other business goals. Shane later showed interest in the UFC and has spent much of his time there, but perhaps one of the most interesting occurrences to come from his UFC interests is meeting TNA Wrestling partner, Hulk Hogan. This raises the question, could Shane McMahon ever go to TNA Wrestling and if so, what would it mean for TNA and the WWE?

While Hulk Hogan meeting Shane McMahon could be nothing more than mere chatter due to both men’s past affiliation and both men sharing an interest in the mixed martial arts world in the UFC, what if there was more to the story than meets the eye? Dixie Carter and Hulk Hogan alike have stated that there is absolutely nobody that they will not go for if it means defeating the WWE and winning the coming ratings war after their success and their massive rating on the January 4th edition of TNA Impact that went head to head with WWE RAW. By anyone, they mean anyone, as shown on TNA with the arrival of the likes of Ric Flair and Jeff Hardy; what if Shane McMahon was to join TNA Wrestling?

Shane McMahon has proven in the past that he is a business man with an eye for the wrestling business and given his prowess backstage, his arrival in TNA Wrestling could easily prove to be a controversial masterpiece of a storyline. Imagine a scenario reminiscent of the Invasion, only this time, Shane grabs a microphone and states “Dad, this time, it’s for real” from which TNA would officially begin the brand new Monday Night ratings wars. This storyline would be controversial, which is very reminiscent of Eric Bischoff’s personal business motto that has followed him throughout his career; “Controversy creates Cash.”

Needless to say, while it would arguably be considered nothing more than mere mention and nothing short of a massive long shot, in the event that it actually did happen, it would send shockwaves throughout the wrestling world quite possibly even more than Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff joining TNA Wrestling did. The son of the man who is the head of the competition joining the promotion; now that would certainly be interesting and as TNA has shown in recent weeks with their countless and seemingly endless ground breaking additions, as well as the announcement that Genesis will see the arrival of someone that nobody would expect; could the arrival of Shane McMahon in TNA Wrestling actually be imminent or nothing more than a pipe dream?
