Caught between exterior and interior climates,
frayed remnants of silken chiffon
barely mask the double glazed window
blown permanently ajar by countless storms
Billowing like a torn sail on high seas,
sheer fabric gives in to unavoidable influences
born of opposing elements,
coming to grips with its inability
to form a barrier less flimsy
than its designer intended

Eyes sadly did not peer
Into the other's set of eyes
