Stop and consider the number of websites, blogs, and businesses that start up each year - in fact, each month. Once you realize the enormity involved, you will quickly gain an understanding of why online writing is becoming more lucrative.  Since most businesses now require a website if they are going to have an impact on the broader market, they need content.  Remember, gone are the days when "content" meant a few pages thrown together with contact information!  Today, internet users are far more savvy and demand far more.  Let us take a look at how online writing is becoming more lucrative.

Newspapers - There have been several news stories over the last few months about the demise of newspapers.  There is a really good reason for that! Many people simply do not take the time to scour their local papers during the week and spend half of Sunday reading the paper from cover to cover.  Most people want their news is short, brief overviews.  Today, there are so many specialized blogs, websites and more that you barely have to pick up a newspaper at all to be fully informed.

Blogs - While there are more blogs than ever before, there are still blogs for businesses that must be maintained with high level, useful content. Because businesses are now seeing blogs as a way to reach out and communicate with their customers, more of them are willing to pay for high quality content.  Although you may still run across the business who is trying to cut corners, more and more companies are willing to pay higher rates. This has resulted in online writing becoming more lucrative than it was just a few years ago.

Web Content - Web content is important to drive traffic.  Writers today need more skills than ever before. While it used to be acceptable to be able to write a well thought out, articulate article, online writers today need SEO skills as well.  For many online writers, these skills were obtained by trial and error, while others have invested money to learn the secrets of SEO.  Because people now recognize that SEO is what obtains targeted traffic (resulting in more visibility), online writing is becoming more lucrative.

Content Sites - Sites like Helium are a perfect example of one of the reasons that online writing is becoming more lucrative. Summary

Whether businesses are big or small, they all share one thing in common. If they have a web presence, they require someone who is highly skilled to provide them online content. While some businesses will still attempt to cut corners, savvy business owners are learning that you get what you pay for. In this high tech environment where people depend on online news, shopping and information, online writing is becoming more lucrative.  Until the tide changes (if it does) magazines, newspapers and other print media may continue their decline.  With this change, online writing will not only become more lucrative, but it will continue to be more lucrative as time goes on.
