Product reviews: Adidas Ice Dive Eau De Toilette

For Christmas last year I got the most obvious hint I must smell a bit as I got 5 separate forms of shower gel, 2 cans of deodorant and the wonderful adidas Ice Dive collection by the significant other. The key to the collection is the Eau de Toilette that comes in a rather small and simple bottle and from the packaging contains 50ml (1.7 fl oz) of the liquid which has an “ice blue” colour (yes adidas did that cleverly). With out knowing a great deal about male perfume I've decided this would be a better review by keeping it simple, working on the fact I know probably less than the normal man on the street this is going to be a fairly simple review, no jargon basically. No pretending to know what any of the chemicals mean or what they are to be honest, just an opinion on the product.

When it comes to buying gifts it seems funny, guys are told to get their partners something that will please them, in this case my girlfriend got me a “male” perfume she liked the smell of but couldn't wear (it's a relatively masculine smell, that would smell funny on a girl), cleverly that would work as a nice present for me. Girls take the hint, if your fella smells funny get him a fragrance you like, they'll soon take the rather obvious (if not slightly insulting) hint that your smell doesn't appeal to them. The bottle looks like a rather small whiskey bottle in shape with a slightly curved back though it has the adidas name and logo on a small sticker on the centre of the front of the bottle and a simple black lid that can be removed easily (at times a little too easily). Though lets be honest no one cares what the bottle looks like but the smell, again the man in me comes out and I feel confused by the idea that a smell can be “flowery” or “snowy” so you're going to get a crude description.

The smell is quite manly, with a strong dollop of alcohol (78% of it according to the packaging), it's pleasant and rather strong though it's not until it's original scent of alcohol has worn off that you realise it's quite a nice smell. With out being an overly strong scent it's quite distinctive and compares favourably to much more pricey fragrances, in fact in the box set with a shower gel and deodorant it could be bought for around £8 pounds over the Christmas period though as a stand alone product it retails at £5-£7 pounds at most major chemists. Although it doesn't scream out “I'm here” like some other fragrances it's the fact that it's nice with out being too strong that makes it a rather appealing fragrance. Also the fact that girlfriend finds it nice means that I can take the hint and get her the female version of it next year, as apparently the male one makes me smell irresistible to her, take the tip guys, this is an affordable scent that can help you on a night out in the clubs.
