All-Star Weekend
Being considered the best on a stage of other players voted by the fans as the best in the league is a huge award. To be named the NBA MVP during All-star weekend is considered an honor. Here you are playing against the best players in the league and you are able to shine above all of them. No matter who guarded you or what defense was thrown at you, you rose above the competition and were still able to be your best. Kobe Bryant for the second time in his career as an All Star was an MVP in Las Vegas.
Despite the criticism of his game being too much deterring to his teammates, Bryant put on a show reminding us that he is still one of the best shooting guards in the league. With his mind focused on proving that he is still a dominant player that can score at will, Bryant went out and scored from every possible way you can on the basketball court. There were few smiles; little laughter as he set out to prove that he has not lost his touch.
Winning the MVP award by scoring 31 points five rebounds, six assists and six steals proved one thing. Not only is he valued on the Los Angeles Lakers his ability was also valued as an All Star. Going into the second half of the season being fifth in the western conference Bryant needs to step up his scoring. The passing and being the team player can't be all that great to a person who ball hogged his way to a NBA scoring title last season averaging 35 points per game. Even though he is averaging 29 points per game he has taken less shots to get there. The Lakers have lost five of the eight-road games in the last two weeks leading up to the All-star game. Bryant will need to step up his game and get the Lakers back on track if they want to move into a better position for the playoffs. As much as we all enjoyed the passing and getting his teammates involved having Bryant take over games would be valued at this stage of the season
