Humor: Cell Phones
The year was 2005. I had bought my first cellular phone. What a glorious day! I half expected some ray of light to come out of the heavens and envelop me. Why? Well, I had finally doffed my "cast-out" status. I was officially a cell-phone-carrying member of society. I was finally a man of the modern world and had social empowerment on my side...or so I thought.
The question, "Have you got a cell phone?", had become almost a broken record. It seemed everyone everywhere had these devices and were using them constantly. Suddenly, I was becoming one of those people I once saw with outsider eyes. The invisible umbilical cord was slowly attaching itself to my daily life. After a couple years, I was chatting away like everybody else. But was my life better for it? I can certainly answer in the affirmative after a blowout one night on the interstate. I can say yes after all the times it saved me from having to go back out to pick up dinner, groceries, etc. Regarding work, my cell phone has been almost an imperative in the event of an emergency. As to
