Why do people still shop in stores when they can go online?

There are many reasons why people may continue to shop in stores when they can go online.  For some, shopping online is a time saving method that they use to decrease the amount of time they need to devote to shopping after working. But, let us explore some of the reasons why some people still shop in stores when they can go online.

• Trust - Some people simply do not trust the idea of adding their credit card information online. Shopping online means that you will either need to pay for your purchases via a credit card, a PayPal account or an E-Check. Not everyone is comfortable paying this way and because of that they will continue to shop in stores when they can shop online.

• Specials - Store often run specials that cannot be found online.  This is often a good reason to not shop online but instead run to the store. You can often find "bargain" prices at the store that will not be available if you decide to shop online.  There are also things that cannot be purchased through a stores online site that can be purchased in the store.

• Variety - If you are doing your grocery shopping online, there is a very good chance that your selections are limited.  If you are interested in buying in bulk for instance, you may find that shopping in the store is more beneficial than shopping online.  Not all brands in all sizes are available online, and chances are that you may find a better variety of products and sizes if you go to the store.  This can be another important reason why people still shop in stores when they can go online.

• Clothing - If you are shopping for clothing, a size 8 is not always a size 8.  Let us be honest, sizes vary from designer to designer and if you order a size 8 online it could be as small as a size 6 or as large as a size 10 depending on the garment. Most people feel more comfortable shopping for clothing in stores even though they can go online.

• Convenience - There are some definite conveniences to shopping in a store versus shopping online. One of these conveniences is that you have immediate access to an item versus waiting for it to be delivered to you.  Depending on the type of shopping you are doing online, your purchase may not arrive for between twenty four hours (usually groceries) to as much as ten days to two weeks. For many people this is the reason that they shop in stores when they could shop online.

Summary

Shopping online for many is a convenience and for others it may be a necessity (for those who do not drive for instance). However, there are still many valid reasons why people still shop in stores when they can go online.
