Assessing the signs of America's demise

Birth instills the right to be stupid in all of us and as a society, 'we' pass laws to protect us from those who abuse that right. Unfortunately, there can be no law that forces people to accept their obligation to assume the responsibility for the freedoms that our democracy provides or it would no longer be considered a democracy.

Most criticize the government for their failures but 'we' are responsible for those elected and the path they put us on by not holding them accountable through the election process. 

More people take the time to vote for the next American Idol than for those who will directly and indirectly impact their lives for years.  Point the finger and blame the “divide and conquer strategies” of Karl Rove and others but apathy has been consuming more of us with each passing year.

'We' are responsible for allowing the few to dictate to the many of us as 'we' fail to participate in selecting our government leadership; therefore, the possible demise of America can be no one's fault but our own.

Before colonization of the United States began, various companies founded towns to search for gold. Because they hadn't planned for how they would survive in winter months, they usually all died within the first year.

When colonists inhabited the land and started working for a better future by planting and building, they were successful and some accumulated wealth along the way.

Our founding fathers were wealthy and they learned from their own experience and history that the pursuit of wealth for no purpose other than just to gain more, eventually caused nations to fall. As the Constitution was being constructed, they started with the “Bill of Rights” for the individual to insure that wealth would never become the primary reason to pursue an objective.

So that nobody would forget, they created the preamble to the Constitution that starts – “We the people…”. What they didn't take into account was that the majority would eventually become complacent and ignore their responsibilities which would allow wealth to become king and use congress as it's court to assume rule over this land.

Today, 'we' have the same indicators that preceded the “Great Depression”. There is a Growing wealth disparity between the classes as the few continue to make more while most go into deficit spending to survive; a Tax Disparity declared by Warren Buffet more than two years ago as
