THE DARK SIDE OF CAPITALISM

OUR TOXIC WORLD: Thanks to our industrialized society, our immune systems are now overwhelmed with over two million chemicals that didn't even exist 50 years ago. Each year another 25,000 are added, and very few are ever tested for either causing cancer or general toxicity. Add to this the stress of our modern lifestyle and the scarcity of pure, unadulterated foods and the result is that our bodies are inundated with toxins that overload our liver and kidneys. Dr. Robert Atkins once said, "If God created man today, we would have two livers and four kidneys to handle all the poisons we are now assaulted with."

The U.S. has the highest output of man made toxins of any country. Our air, our water and our food are all compromised by the greed of large conglomerates whose only concern is their bottom line'. Our earth is at a point of crisis. Which will win out-the greed of profit making companies who are polluting our planet, or consideration for the health of humanity?

PRESCRIPTIOIN PAD MEDICINE (Drugs-R-Us): Medicinal drugs are by far the largest business in this country. We manufacture and consume over half the world's supply. The average senior citizen in this country is on thirteen different drugs! Our children line up at the school nurse's office each morning for their fix of Ritalin or Prozac (both class II narcotics). Every aspect of life and every stage we go through has its own medication. With the highest consumption of drugs in the world shouldn't we be the healthiest? Actually we are the LEAST healthy. We have the highest rate of all five major degenerative diseases in the world, namely cancer, heart problems, diabetes, bronchial and bone/joint diseases (osteoporosis, arthritis, fibromyalgia, gout, etc.), and are 28th in life expectancy? Does this tell you something?

FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL: For those who consider nutritionists to be alarmists', and to those who think of the drug companies as lily-white cathedrals of benevolence, consider this: What is the sole purpose of any capitalistic enterprise? To make money for the stockholders. In the drug industry, what would prevent this? People getting well! It is accepted that tobacco companies add chemicals to make tobacco more addictive, and they continue to advertise to increase sales, knowing that it may kill you (they have to replace the 400,000 people they kill each year with 400,000 new young smokers, just to break even). How can people be nave enough to think drug companies
