Tips and tricks for improving your memory

The most sophisticated computer can't match the speed and power of the human mind. With all the mental abilities available to everyone, few really know how to use that gray matter inside their skulls. Yet, it is so important to use the mind if life is to become a success. Here are some tips to help you improve your memory.

Change Your Limiting Beliefs.

The first step to developing a good memory is by changing the belief that you can't remember anything. You are capable of remembering whatever is important to you. Many people believe they have a poor memory, yet they have little trouble recalling the statistics of their favorite sports team and what they did years ago. Casting away your belief that you can't remember is the first step to developing an exceptional memory.

Pay Attention.

You can't remember anything if you're not paying attention to it. Many people complain of being too forgetful, when in truth, they never remembered in the first place. Their attention was focused elsewhere when they misplaced their keys. The ability to focus on the moment is critical to developing memory. You may need to force yourself to pay attention to what you're doing at any given moment.

Practice Association.

It's easier to remember an event if you associate it with something else. You remember what you were doing when the 9/11 terrorist attack hit because you associated that event with the action you were engaged in. Associating something intangible with something you know helps you to remember and recall better.

Remember the Important Things.

Since our minds are constantly in motion, we try to remember everything that crosses our minds regardless of their importance. Baseball scores are important if you're a broadcaster, a coach, or deal in some way with sports. But filling your mind with sports facts and figures won't help advance your IT career.

Exercise the Mind.

Developing an exceptional memory comes from constant use of the gray matter in your head. When faced with a problem, most people simply react on the spur of the moment. They never take the time to think through a problem before taking action. Their minds are disorganized. Today's pace of life doesn't always allow many the moments to stop to think about where their lives are headed. Unfortunately, by not using the full capacity of the mind, many allow it to simply atrophy. Like the body, the mind needs to be exercised in order to stay sharp and focused.

Changing to a Healthy Diet.

The typical diet of many consists of highly processed and refined foods that are low in nutritional value. The mind simply can't function properly if it doesn't get what it needs to stay sharp. A diet of fresh fruits and vegetables with fiber helps to keep the mind healthy and free of many of today's mental disorders.

Eliminate the Bad Habits.

Many have grown up adopting habits that create mental problems later in life. They smoke, drink to excess and don't get adequate levels of sleep. The mind can't work at its optimal level if it's fatigued and stressed by worry and fear. Many people don't know how to relax. They're in a constant state of disorganized activity. They rush about without any clue as to the real meaning of life. They don't use their mental powers to think up a life plan to take them where they want to go. You can maintain mental sharpness by eliminating those bad habits and toxins that interfere with the brain's functioning.

Following these tips will greatly improve mental health and sharpen memory skills-and in today's world, a good memory is one of the best ways to insure that life will have meaning and will be filled filled with wealth and happiness..
