Reasons why it's better to be a non-driver

Well, for starters, being a driver can be very handy for a multitude of reasons. It helps you feel more independent, helps you to get things done, and helps you in a multitude of other ways. However, do these actually outweigh the pro's to being a non-driver... now THAT is a tough one! Below, I've listed some reasons why I feel being a non-driver can be a good thing (even though I myself do drive).

1.) No car to buy. There's no searching for that perfect car day after day; whether it be new, used, or on it's way to the junkyard... they can all end up lemons! And none of them usually come cost free, and if they do.. usually not fault free; dealing with those hoaky salesman who act like these are members of their family, or dealing with their finance managers who act like you're bothering them when you deny all 3 billion things they try and sales pitch you during the final paperwork...

2.) No outrageous car payments each month if you buy a newer vehicle! (...and if your job falls out from under you as mine has, no fear of the REPO MAN either!)

3.) No "out the roof" car insurance premiums. I'm a 26 year old male with a perfect record (knock on wood), and mine is still outrageous because the car is new!

4.) No costly repairs to worry about as I currently am with mine. I drive a winter "beater" to save my nice car from being attacked by salt so that I have something decent for many years to come... but in doing that, I just replaced 2 rotted brake lines, a wheel bearing, fuel tank and lines, a wiper switch, and now the rack and pinion for the steering is goin out! ..you feeling my pain yet?! haha.

5.) No one asking you for rides. Then again, without the license you may be the one asking me for the ride... but that's okay... when you don't drive, that's one of the pro's!

6.) No one asks to borrow your car, because you don't have one! This saves you from this same supposed 'responsible' individual from coming home frantic telling you what they hit, and worrying how you're going to fix it.

7.) You don't feel dirty with the sudden urge to bathe your vehicle when you see others driving around with their showroom new looking washed car in the dead of winter... no car to worry about!

8.) Those painstaking, heart dropping feelings you get when you come out of a supermarket/mall and see a huge dent or scratch in your door... don't have to worry about that now do you?

9.) Accidents,... well ..without being a driver, they're never going to be your fault are they? LOL!

10.) No road rage... lower blood pressure... longer life... :)

The moral of my story is this: Driving can be good, fun, and very necessary. However, if you're in a situation where you don't really need to, then I'd say keep it that way! ..But get a license and learn to drive... regardless... it doesn't cost much, and you'll always have it. It's good for emergencies and things you may not be able to avoid in the future, and will keep you from being 'dead weight' in a possible bad situation.

All in all, I think I'm going to go stick "FOR SALE" signs in both of my cars and join you! -The End!-
