How does God speak to us?

There are quite a few different ways that God or YHWH will speak to us.  Sometimes this can be done through others.  He can also speak to us by coincidental happenings or mishaps.  YHWH or God will also speak to us through His Word, the Scriptures.  He will speak to us in many ways, but the true question lies with whether or not we will listen.

One of the most popular ways YHWH speaks to us is through others.  It seems most often times it is about our behavior.  Granted I do not believe that everything every person says to me is a message from YHWH or God, but it is important to listen just in case YHWH is trying to speak to me through someone else.  For example a couple months into my relationship with my husband, I was acting very controlling, hateful and nagging.  At the time, it was hard to see myself in that light, but when my husband made a comment about separating I realized I needed to change my behavior.  Once I changed my actions and words we connected better.  We had less arguments and hateful words.  Today I am very thankful YHWH spoke through my husband to me, otherwise my husband and I would have probably separated.

Coincidental happenings and mishaps are the hardest to understand or see when YHWH is trying to speak to us.  Most just take certain happenings as coincidence or fate, but most of the time it is YHWH speaking.  One of my mother-in-law's friends had one of these such situations of YHWH or God speaking to her.  She had ordered a MP3 player for one of her grandchildren for Christmas, but it came with a noticeable defect.  She sent it back and when she received it after they had supposedly fixed it the defect was still there.  The second thing appeared while she was making Christmas cookies.  She was making a very large batch of Christmas cookies (six dozen or so) and the metal mixing tool broke apart into tiny pieces.  She had to throw the whole batch of cookies away because the metal pieces were so small she did not want anyone choking.  In this instance, she declared mishaps the works of Satan.  As an outsider's point of view, YHWH was trying to teach her about Christmas.

The last way that YHWH will speak to us is through His sacred Word, the Scriptures.  Sometimes He reveals to us certain mysteries that we were not able understand before.  This can be one of the clearer ways of understanding how God or YHWH speaks to us.

As shown, YHWH will speak to us in many ways.  The three main ways are through others, such as friends or family; coincidental mishaps or happenings; or be revealing certain mysteries though His Word.
