Poetry: Icicles

by Crystal Reign Brock

Created on: January 10, 2010

Cold wet sculptures hanging from rooftops.

Beautiful crystal-like jewelry glistening in the air.

Your glow and beauty cause many to stare.

The warming sun causes dancing prisms on your surface.

Colorful dancing rainbows that creates joy for the young and the old.

Although many awe at your beauty, they fear you just the same.

The warming sun that makes you glisten creates danger for those below.

As the sun warms the pristine row of diverse cold shapes and sizes grow thin.

Your surface once full of frost, now drips wet drops.

Many dash into houses and buildings you remain on to escape the sting of your sharp pointy end.

As winter ends and summer nears your decorative glow is a mere memory.

A memory that stirs up feelings of holiday cheer, Christmas scenes on lawns filled with snow, and

crystal-like jewelry that once hung in the air.
