I saw your first impression.
You hardly acknowledged my presence-
Though I was there to test your opinion.
My sight was filtered as though I didn't have the decency.
Not knowing your state of mind,
I pushed forward the essence of me at my best.
Little did I know you were the only critic.
Grabbing so desperately, in the most simultaneous manner,
I shined my light into a world I was unfamiliar with.
Longing for a sliver of your thought,
I continued my act as you proceeded your staring.
The hotness of my veins as they lost all oxygen,
Burnt my skin and stole my collectedness.
Somehow, in the scheme of things-
You chose me over all.
The first day we started our task,
I hoped to figure you out-
But somehow you tightened your shield.
I was frightened of your intelligence.
The humid, weighing thought that you looked down on me,
Burned my fire to figure you out.
Time went by, minutes to hours.
Painfully I accepted your heartless, monotonous words.
But like every bitter taste, there awaits a recovery,
And finally it turned sweet.
Climbing the mountain, I catch up to you-
And soon I will pass you by...
