Positive self esteem can be developed through the receiving of encouragement and self assurance from those around us. The more positive messages which we receive then the more likely it is that we will gain good self esteem.
When life throws you a few curb balls your self esteem can take a bit of a nose dive downwards. The more negative events or thoughts that a person is subjected to, then the more likely it is that the person will believe the negative messages being delivered to them, and the lower their self esteem goes.
If you find that you are doubting your own self worth, then it might be time for you to bump up your esteem with a little self promoted positive reinforcement. Sending yourself positive messages can also help to build up your tarnished self esteem.
Although it may originally feel somewhat uncomfortable to give yourself compliments, it really is not that difficult to orchestrate, and it becomes much easier to do with time. If it helps to make the process easier, you can use words from a popular song, or a comedy routine to compliment yourself.
Repeat the positive messages to yourself frequently throughout the day, and especially when you are feeling down, or discouraged. At least once a day, stand yourself in front of the mirror and, compliment yourself on some positive aspect of your looks. Do not allow negative thoughts to occur during this process, instead focus only on positive attributes, and compliment yourself on these.
Looking in the mirror also practice complimentary poses of yourself, and become comfortable with your various expressions, and poses. When you find a pose, or stance that suits you, practice it until it becomes a natural part of your character. Then use these mannerisms outside of your home to help you to become a more confident person. Remember that practice makes perfect. The more that you use an expression or pose than the more comfortable you will be orchestrating it in public.
Smile often. It is a fact that smiling will make you feel happier, and the more content that you are in
