Home remedies for bloating

Wikipedia defines Bloating as any abnormal general swelling or increase in diameter of the abdominal area. Normally as a symptom the person feels a full tight abdomen, which may cause abdominal pain. Many different diseases show bloating as one of the symptom, but for a lay man bloating can just be normal as it can be. For women it can be more due to her menstrual cycle, for others it could just because of eating too much certain food like potatoes or chick peas. In this post we would discuss some way to help and relive a person of this condition.


1] Walking:
The first and for most one can thing of doing if suffering with Bloating is to walk. Importance of a nice walk after Lunch or Dinner is very much recommended by respected elders in India. They believe that when one walk not only the meals would be digested well, but also waste product of metabolism such air would get relieved due to walking.

2] Application of Oil:
 Another common remedy to be done if one suffers with Bloating is that of application of warm oil with some salt on the abdomen to relive bloating. Midwives use this technique more so to relive bloating in young infants who normally face the issue due to slow digestion. The same application does work magic at any age group. Sesame seed oil or Castor oil is the preferred oil here.

3] Herbal tea and herbs:
 Normally when one constantly suffers with Bloating one is then only suggest with different herbs and herbal teas to take. Still it is very common in South Asia to have warm water as the first measure some times to get relief from Bloating.
In family of herbs the best one to be suggested for bloating is the one of the simplest spice found in over every day cooking. Garlic or Allium Sativum has been known according to Ayurveda to help and treat symptoms of Gaseous and Bloating. Roast garlic and just one or two cloves of it
Another herb that has known its value in curing Bloating is Asafoetida . A herb that is very common in South Asia is known for its healing work on bloating. Apply Oil and asafoetida on bloated stomach and see the result in few hours.
Tea made up of roasted Cumin seeds and fennel seeds do give the same result when used for treating Bloating.

4] Yoga and Bloating:
  Some of yoga poses are known to help those who suffer with bloating. Vajrasana a pose where one sits on the knee joint is a very easy but yet complicated pose. This pose really works well in helping a person releasing the air from the stomach which remains the major cause of Bloating. The same pose is advised by yogis for those who suffer with bloating on a regular base. Women who suffer with bloating especially during those days of menstruation cycle find a great relief when they sit in this pose for some time.
