Why Christians should pray

Are you a Christian? How much time do you spend with God each day?  How much time is enough time with God? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? or 30 minutes? We should pray because prayer is not an option for the Christian.  It is a necessity.  Prayer is our time spent and our fellowship with God.  Prayer puts you in the presence of God.  It is our source of power for living. Prayer gives the Christian perspective on the power of God and how it can affect our lives. Prayer is our link to discovering the wonders of God as our Father.  It should involve every aspect of your life.  It is the way to make you a better person by finding out how you can apply the wisdom of God in your life. In short when you want to have a relationship with a man or a woman or a friend you spend time with them, visiting, going out or just being around them. This is the same with God. To have a good relationship with God you must spend time in prayer, not just when you need something, but just to share your time with Him.

When we commune with God we become new person.  Our habits change.  Everything in our lives becomes simplified, and we find practical solutions to our problems.  In Luke 18: 1-8, Jesus told his disciples to pray unceasingly.  He also told them that God cares about his people and his ear are open unto their cries for justice in the lives.  In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul instructs Christians to never stop praying in II Thessalonians 5:17-18 and to give thanks in everything.  There are many verses in the Bible where Christ encourages us to pray:

John 15:7 “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you”

John 16:23 “I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Matthew 17:20 “…if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and it will move; nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 21:22 “If you believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Luke 22:46 “...Get up and pray so that you
