                                                                                              HERMAN THE  HAMSTER

             Sally was playing with her new hamster, Molly, which reminded her of a miniature Panda Bear. Sally had gotten Molly two weeks ago from the pet shop downtown. 

             “She’s so cute. “ Sally said as she put Molly back in her cage.

            Every morning Sally would go through the same routine.  She would open the cage and change the paper. Then, she would give Molly some food and water, and spend a little time holding and talking to Molly. Then, back in the cage Molly would go and Sally was off to school. Every afternoon when Sally got home from school, she would go straight to her room and check on Molly.  She would give Molly more water if she needed it and spend a little more time talking to and playing with Molly. But today was different. Molly didn’t seem to act like her old self. 

            “Mom.” Sally called to her mother. “Mom, would you come here please?  Something is wrong with Molly.”

            Sally had gone into her room after breakfast to feed and clean Molly ‘s cage when she noticed Molly acting strange.

            “She’s just laying there.” Sally explained to her mother.

            “Usually she’s running around in her exercise wheel while I fix her cage.”

            “I can’t imagine what’s wrong with her.” Sally’s mother said. “Maybe she’ll be better
