Being a Spiritual Paranormal Investigator

I consider myself a spiritual paranormal investigator. Having been raised Catholic and being a practicing Catholic, I firmly believe in God, Jesus, angels, demons and spirits. I do believe that people have had messages and visitations from Jesus and his Blessed Mother.

My husband, on the other hand, although raised a Catholic, does not believe in any of these things. He cannot accept that spirits are able to cross the barrier, so to speak, and communicate with us or that a soul is stuck and needs help to move on. He often kids me and then asks me difficult questions to try and shake my belief. I add these inquiries to my repertoire of questions I ask spirits, hoping they can give me the answers. I want to prove to my husband, and others, that everything I believe in exists, which is partly why I became a paranormal investigator.

The differences between our religious convictions and our interest in the paranormal confirm my thoughts that spirituality and paranormal belief often go hand-in-hand. I have had enough experiences in my life to reinforce my beliefs. I have not seen my guardian angel, but did feel her protect me from harm when she wrapped her wings around me in the instance of car crash that should have been fatal. I have been visited by my grandmother after her death. She appeared to me a few days later, standing outside my bedroom door, smiling at me and telling me she was fine. I have called on my grandfather for help and had it given. He even touched my shoulder once in comfort. These and other experiences have set groundwork of confidence within me that assures me the spiritual world is alive and well.

Because of these experiences, coupled with my faith, I have not doubted people who have told me they have seen a loved one who has passed or an angel. Nor do I doubt that people have encountered demons or had a near-death event, even though I have not.

Bringing my religious faith into a case can cloud the investigation. The world in general does not easily believe in the paranormal. People quickly say that there are no such things as ghosts as easily as they say there is no Santa Claus. So, I approach my investigations with my religious beliefs tampered down. Outside of praying to St. Michael for protection prior to the start of the investigation, (and wearing a cross during it), I force myself to doubt what I might hear or see. Telling the world that I have seen a spirit simply becomes
