The New Year 2010 has taken us to our dream destination, Wellington. We were lucky enough to spend some magical moments with our children here. Wellington is a wonderful city, a paradise on earth. It has more to offer than a dozen other places combined.
We are completely pumped for 2010 at Wellington. January is always a great month to start planning and getting inspiration for our travels. Whether it is a weekend getaway or our putting all our chips on the table and hitting the road without a specific return date, Wellington defines a magical place to travel and explore.
Wellington is a picturesque city, weaving its magic in the island of New Zealand, situated in the South of Northern New Zealand. It is surrounded by a spectacular and enchanting landscape of hills and valleys covered with flowers, bluegrass fields, orchards, and pine forests. The city itself, a cornucopia of artists’ studios, galleries and wonderful antique shops, is a magnet for tourists from all over the world.
One of the things you’ll find in Wellington is the acceptance of different views and ideas. New Zealand is a modern, secular, democratic society, with no ingrained class system. Freedom of speech, expression and religious beliefs are guaranteed by law.
The history of this country began at Petone, a central place at Wellington. We not only get the best food and furniture but most of the Aluminum and aluminum articles, dairy products like butter, cheese, yogurt, electrical equipments, forestry items like wood, timber, Meat, ship wool are exported from this country to the entire world.
Travelling in Wellington is systematic and wonderful. The valley flyer buses operate throughout, trains run to and fro in central Wellington, car or taxi will take you anywhere you need. The timetable information is available on their web site www.metlink.co.nz .
Te Whare Whakaaro o Pito-one ( Petone Settlers Museum): This is the ‘Wellington Provincial Centennial Memorial’ built in 1940 to commemorate the arrival of the first New Zealand Company Settlers.
Petone Beach: The beach stretches some two kilometers and is regarded as a very safe for swimming. The beach is surrounded with barbeque joints, well designed parks, art and craft points of interest.
Iona Cross: It commemorates the first Presbyterian Church service
