Random Thoughts on Being Gay...
Category: Life
I am a Father, a Son, a Brother, a Grandson, a Cousin, a Friend, a Co-worker, a Nephew, a Husband, a Boyfriend, a Neighbor, a Consumer, a Leader, an Instructor, a Teacher, a Student, a Traveler, a GAY man.
I seek liberation, truth, honesty, kindness, fairness, acceptance, intelligence, education, admiration, respect, confidence, self-control, passion, love, self acceptance.
Every once in a while I get inspired to write down my thoughts and express all the thoughts that are simply floating around in my mind. Well, tonight is one of those nights...Enjoy!
Re: Being Gay...I find it amazing that this day and age people are still condemning fellow human beings on something so minute as being gay. Being gay is not a disease nor is it a stubborn reaction to something, nor is it a way of rebelling toward the world. I've read several "sayings" lately that say; "I chose to be gay the day you chose to be straight". Question, Why is that so hard to believe? Why does everything need a reason for being? Why is it so hard for someone to accept that you love someone from the same sex. Are people's mind so useless and ignorant that they actually believe that loving someone is wrong? (This is not, in any means a self defense "blog" on the contrary, its a friend giving some life's expiriences). What happened to self identity? What happened in growing up to be a confident individual...in loving yourself without questioning every move, thought or feeling that you might have? As a gay man who was straight, I can say that even though I was happy when I was married, because I was, there is no denying that, I believe that I was also "happy" with the thought of being married. Now, looking back, even though things are different and perhaps my life could have been easier, I am glad that I have found myself. When I say find myself, it does not necessarily mean that I felt lost, disoriented, it just means that now I know exactly who I am and what I want out of life. The self pity, the ignoring ones feelings can only last for so long. I love my wife as she is an extraordinary individual who has been my biggest supporter, but I also love myself.
Its easy for "straight" individuals to react, criticize, impose ill thoughts, discriminate, push away, ignore the feelings of others. In reality it is fear and ignorance that controls their thoughts. Since the day we are born we are taught that you need to eat our veggies, do good in
