Spy cams are all the rage. You can find them for sale virtually everywhere. It's impossible to determine just who might be recording you, even at a pleasant little dinner. That's the point though for these little cams, they can't be readily seen and they provide a document of whatever might have happened or what might not have happened. So in the case of nanny cams you are truly hoping to have recorded nothing of significance.
Given that they can't be seen, if the cam is properly hidden, is it fair to the caregiver to have one of these in your house? Do the privacy rights of the nanny out way you rights to ensure the safety of your child? What are the legal ramifications in your particular area?
There are a wide range of spy cams available for your use. Some can cost as little as little as $40.00 online for a very basic model. If you are looking for more features you can find cams that will transfer images across the Internet to you at work. You can pay pretty much as much as you wish depending on the options you want.
Some of these cams can transmit images across the internet but this can be dangerous to the home owner. It is very easy to find a receiver to pick up many of the signals being broadcast. So someone could be spying on you spying on your nanny. But this would allow you to check in on your child live anytime you would like.
Next you have to check the laws in your area regarding the use of spy cams. Different jurisdictions have different regulations. Generally there are things which might be immoral for you to do such as place a cam in a bathroom. Regardless of the law it just seems right not to have a cam in the bathroom – some things a person does should be private.
Legally however you might be able to record without sound. Perhaps there is legislation that tells you where and how long you can record. Maybe it's illegal in your area so if you were to record your nanny doing something you wouldn't want them to have done the tape might not be admissible in court. So you need to carefully check the law and don't just take the opinion of a well meaning friend.
Do you have a moral obligation to your children to install a nanny cam in your home? Morality, as we all know, is a relative and ever changing idea. What is moral for one person might not be moral for someone else. The question of morality is in your hands as is the safety of your children. The choice is yours in consultation with the law of course.
You also need to make certain that you have vetted your potential nanny in as many ways as you possibly can. Moreover, the need to choose a great nanny is your responsibility for the safety of your little ones. There can be no greater responsibility than that of your children.
