Why Christians should pray

 Should you pray?

Consider a mother watching as her child who is ill seems to slip farther into the abyss; a widower who sits in an empty house feeling lost and alone; a 10 year old who cowers in a corner with her knees shaking as she anticipates her part in a school play.  Should they pray?

In a time of chaos and fear many find themselves in a position where they need confidence, strength and peace.  Turning to an earthly parent is logical to a child.  However, as people grow they often drift away from their parents or perhaps they feel that their parents just can't help. Inside each person is the desire for someone with whom to connect.  If you learn to kneel before God and discuss life everyday, prayer can become that connection and can be just as logical as the attraction of a child to a parent.  Remember, He is your Heavenly Father.

Although there are innumerable reasons to pray, the five reasons discussed herein (peace, strength, help, resisting temptation and seeing miracles every day) have the ability to change your life.

 1. Acknowledging and communicating with a Heavenly Father who loves you brings peace.

An anonymous woman having gone through a miscarriage said, "I had asked in every prayer…for the faith to accept His will, and my prayers were answered with a peace I had not thought possible in such disappointment."

Many learned people in the world say that a belief in God is a crutch.  They think that if you must pray to a heavenly being you are unable to cope with life on your own.  However, there is great power in acknowledging and communicating with God on a regular basis.  Jesus, the only perfect man to walk the earth was able to cope with life better than anyone.  However, he knew and loved his Father in Heaven and found peace in that relationship.  Just as an earthly parent, your Father in Heaven loves you and holds a great desire for you to succeed and find joy.  If you can recognize that simple fact it will bring a tremendous amount of peace.  When you speak with that heavenly being you will experience a love that exceeds anything mortal man can comprehend and you will find tranquility in your life.

2.  Life is easier for the strong and prayer brings strength.

Actress and author Dorothy Bernard said, "Courage is fear that has said its prayers."

The Bible often speaks of people asking God to help
