How to host a Bunco party

If it's your month to host Bunco and you're not quite sure what to do, or if you are looking to set up a new league and want to know how you go about hosting and the entire process of Bunco Night, I have gathered together my rules and guidelines that I have used in the league I have run for 2 years now. The most important thing to remember in running a league is, you can't please all of the people, all of the time. Just try to do what the majority wants to do if that is possible and just try to be the organizer and not the manager. You will enjoy yourself more when you can help keep everyone together instead of make everyone get together.

This is just how my league works, you will find that almost every single bunco league has slight variations on rules, games, how many sets they play, when they play, what you win, what you serve or it could be pot luck. It is just whatever you want to do.

We use Evite.com to send out the monthly invitations.

Send out invitations about 2 weeks in advance-When it is your turn to host, this seems to be the best time as it reminds people and allows everyone time to check their email and respond. Send out your evite to the email addresses on the roster. If you see anyone has replied NO, you should email the evite out to the sub, call them or both whichever you prefer. You can also arrange for your own subs, friends or family, just be sure to add them to the evite, so we can all see that we have enough for that month. If you don’t have 12  two days prior to Bunco, please get in contact with me, via phone, email or text, to let me know and I will see what I can help with. But I can’t be responsible every single month to do this, it should be a shared burden if possible, but I will help where I can.

Choose a theme, you don’t absolutely have to, but I would encourage choosing some type of theme, going with it and suggesting in your evite what you would like the group to do to participate in that theme. It can be simple like a green recycling theme, everyone would be suggested to wear green, or if can be more involved like 70’s night. Try to choose a theme that people can be creative with without ensuring that everyone has to go to the thrift store to buy an outfit every month, no one really wants to spend $ on a costume for Bunco, so be creative, think about what you could pull together out of your closet, (or a friends or family members) and go with that.  It doesn’t have to be just costumes
