Poetry: Childhood

by Robert Dams

Created on: January 06, 2010

I grew up the smallest kid on the street

I am the one, the other boys would mistreat

No matter what I did, they were there

Some days, I just wanted to pull out my hair

I’d run, I’d fight, but they kept being mean

All the way to the age of eighteen

My childhood they took away from me

But now I can look back and plainly see

What they did, made me who I am today

A strong willed man, who turned out ok

I see them now and boy am I glad

Because they are looking pretty sad

They have not accomplished anything in their lives

And Oh My God! You should see their wives

So even though they did all that to me

I am the one who truly turned out happy
