As a modern Christian I find myself more often than not face to face with the every day trials of evil and worldly dissension that so often can bereft and drain the human soul. It is not an uncommon theme as so many of us are becoming disenfranchised with religion. These are some of the best reasons I can think of to pray. We need it more than ever now. Prayer is quite simply the communication directly with our heavenly father with no need for priests or confessionals or any other worldly device. Through prayer we can feel a personal bond to our lord that no one can take away. I find personal prayer to be the only effective way to comfort my soul in times of crisis or hardship. Don’t get me wrong , I find deep gratitude and fulfillment in my family, but we are not meant to thrive merely on the physical state. There is a spiritual component that must be nurtured if a human being is to find true happiness.

God created man in his image true, but he didn’t ever intend for us to stray very far from him. I feel this is why so many in the world are miserable, hateful and otherwise intolerant of everything, because they have strayed far from the lord and the path he set out for them. When a man forgets his beginnings he forgets himself and so does the world turn not in the lords image but in the failed attempts of mankind to replace god. Prayer is the only answer to this gapping void we have created in society between ourselves and the lord our god, to deny ourselves prayer is to deny the everlasting love and solace of god and as well to deny his very existence. The lord commands us to pray daily on our triumphs our failures our sorrows and our joys.

Lets look at some reasons to pray each day. #1 prayer for awakening. Awakening the dormant spiritual side is probably the most important reason for daily prayer. The dormant spirit in us all yearns to commune and communicate with our lord. Only prayer can give the inner spirit what it really needs. Connection with god is not attainable any other way than from inside. To make this connection you must talk to the lord in your small internal voice. That is what prayer really is. Its you talking to your lord and savior. It doesn’t have to be formal only respectful. God listens to each and every one of us each time we pray. Prayer can be quiet or out loud, it only depends on your comfort in speaking. I find that a nice quiet place ,say an open meadow or even a calm soothing room is the best place for me to
