Poetry: Connection

by Amanda Kasper

Created on: January 06, 2010

I crave connection

to be close to another living

i long to fit

if only for a day

i could feel like the normal

healthy

happy

people do

with each sentance

a struggle to converse

with every attempt

failed

become buried

deeper

deeper

into the dark

anxiety the dirt

shame

pain

every day wake up

think

wish

desire another start

to everyone "hello"

fake smile

upward

creeping

awkwardness

freak

try to press on

but reluctantly

fall

back to the familiar

safer

easier

at the end of the day

face into the pillow

silently a prayer

please

please

let tomorrow

be better

than today
