Dealing with stress can be very difficult, or rather easy, depending on how you deal with it, and what you are getting stressed at. Something like holiday stress is stressful, but it is easy to cope with. Stress like going to high school is something that takes a bit more time to relieve. This article will be about:
1) High School - How it can stress someone's life
2) Ways to deal with stress
High School is a scary thing. Especially for grade 8 students, who will be off to a high school in their next year. You may hear a grade 8 student say "Ugh, I hate our school. In high school, it will be so much better. I'm really excited, aren't you?!" or "I'm scared for high school. The tests, exams, and learning material that they force on us seems hard to deal with." The two quotes are correct. High school is a big jump from elementary school, therfore making it more exciting. But it is also a big jump on you're learning. It's not only different on how you spend you're time in each class, the rules will be different. And the tests and work may be hard to deal with at first. But if you learn how to manage your time and make time for everything-including breaks-it will be much easier.
These are some ways to deal with working stress(and this includes high school too. in brackets, there will be what each method should and are frequently used for):
1) Take a break from your work. Listen to some of your favourite music. Read a really good book. Or just spend some time with friends. As much as work is important, taking a few breaks along the way is also healthy. (all)
2) Take deep breaths. Close you're eyes, and make yourself see all black. You shouldn't be able to see anything, or hear anything. Close the door to the room if you have to! Calm yourself. Now, think of yourself on a beach. The sound of the waves. Focus on that. In a few minutes, you will feel perfectly relaxed, and almost dazed. This method will refresh your memory and relieve you of your stress. (more for high school/work stress, but works for any other stress in general)
3) The internet can be a very useful thing. Go on the internet .Search for stress-relieving stories. And get someone to read it to you, or just read it over once and then picture what you remember. Stay focused on that for as long as you need. (work)
4) If you are having holiday stress-think about this. You're family and friends are coming over! People who you love are coming to celebrate the wonderful time with you. So make it a use of your time. Impress them, or even think of how stressed they would be if they had to do what you had to do. It's for the people you love, and you want them to have the best, right? (holiday stress)
5) Sleep. Take a breather, and take a quick nap. Sleeping relaxes the mind, and keeps you're brain functioning. The brain needs some rest too! Give it the proper things, and it should be absorbing material quicker, faster, and more efficently. (all)
