There are positives to selling at a yard sale and there are positives to selling on Ebay as well. There are advantages to both and I will try to cover them in this article.
First I will address selling your items on Ebay. Ebay is an online auction site that allows you to show what you have for sale to the world, literally without having to design your own website or rent a building for a shop. On Ebay there are multiple ways to sell your stuff. The first is by setting up an auction. First you list what your item for sale with a fitting description then name the starting price, how long you want to list the auction for and click list. The form is very easy to figure out and even if you can't there is a whole community on the site to lend a hand. The second is similar to the first except that you can offer your item for a buy it now price which allows people to avoid missing out and bidding altogether. There are other things you can add in such as pictures and reserve prices which means you won't sell unless it reaches a certain set price. It is all very simple and the fees are upfront and easy to figure out.
Selling at a yard sale has at least one advantage i can think of to Ebay, and that's not having to ship the items your selling. There is also the disadvantage of having to deal with people that will give you low ball offers leaving you with no choice but to haggle. With the yard sale you don't have to worry that you will ship your item to someone who will not be pleased with what they receive. With a yard sale everything is upfront where everyone knows what they are getting for their buck. With a yard sale at the end of the day you just pack up you belongings and call it a day, most likely never seeing those people again. With Ebay you rely on the buyer to be pleased with the product your selling and leave you positive feedback for everyone to see.
So there you have it there are good and bad to both, but if you ask me I prefer the Ebay. I don't like to haggle and I never have to leave the comfort of my own home. If I don't sell what I list at least I don't have to drag it back in from the front yard and pack it back away.
