If there is nothing left to do, mothers will always pray. In fact, the power in a mother's prayer is so great that her child is often times carried on angels' wings to safety, overcoming whatever trials and obstacles in the way. But why is a mother's prayer so special? Prayer is part of God's command in being responsible for our children, as well as teaching them how to conduct themselves and grow in their knowledge of God.
"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men." 1 Timothy 2:1
"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" Luke 11:13
A mother's earnest prayer has such power because of the 5 things she possesses: persistence, intercession, humility, boldness, and love. A mother is usually the one who senses when her child is struggling with a problem, and she is often the one who cares for the ailing child who awakens in the night with a fever or cough. Because of that insight and strength coming from within, dedicating all energy to her child's well being, a mother relies on prayer regularly to get through each waking moment. For when a mother prays, she petitions to God the exact problem, and pleads with Him to hear her cause.
The personified prayer is not mere words to a motherit is all her love, hope, joy, and anguish poured out to the Lord for Him to be merciful in leading her child. She doesn't give up pleading her case to the Lord until she receives an answer. But she also knows how important it is for her own life to be right with the Lord before she can expect Him to listen. So she humbly communes with Jesus, He imparts the confidence in her to know that her prayers are not in vain. She seeks the Lord's will, yet fights for her child to be spared unnecessary pain, trading her own life in exchange.
A mother never rests, nor gives up believing in her child. She sees his or her true heart, and secretly praises the Lord for all the blessings her child has brought to her life.
