The question; "Is it possible for politicians to tell the truth?" The quick answer; "Absolutely, it is possible for politicians to tell the truth!"

Now let's get into it; One of the greatest movies that came out when the baby-boomers were young was "Mr Smith goes to Washington" with Jimmy Stewart and a bunch of other great actors and actresses. It's a terrific movie to revisit, especially if you are in politics now, are interested in running for any political office ever, politically minded, or just a citizen of the United States. In a nutshell, a concerned citizen takes a stance, acting courageously and as a result wins the minds, the hearts, and the vote of his fellow citizens. So, he goes off to Washington, D.C. and gets quite an education regarding all the wheeling and dealing. Bottom-line; the moment comes for him to act courageously once again, he goes against the grain and reminds every politician that they are there to represent the people that put them there and what they believe, that they are to up-hold the law not to bend it or break it. It's truly wonderful, and very inspiring!

So you're asking; "what's this got to do with the real world?" Everything! You see, I love America and I believe in her and my fellow countrymen. I have witnessed the absolute best and worst of man, shared triumph and tragedies with my fellow countrymen and servicemen. I have been praised for being an American, and spit upon by the very same people my Nation has rescued, and I, like my Nation of "WE the People" (from the Constitution), would do it again if needed without hesitation. Why? Because I, like the majority of my countrymen, believe in right over wrong, good over evil, doing the right thing not once, but always. Because when you get right down to it, it all comes down to choice, and "that" is what sets America apart, WE are a Nation with the FREEDOM to choose. All of us, each and everyday can choose to make a difference, can choose to take a stance and let OUR voice be heard. I believe if OUR countrymen took a stance, their stance based on what they believed to be right on whatever the issue / issues in their community /city /state and made that stance public, and ran for office based on that stance truthfully, citizens would vote for them or against depending upon how they felt (as they should). But even if they opposed that person, they would respect and admire the honesty and the truthfulness displayed. You see, that is America, the real America, WE'RE as diverse
