Congratulations! When's the big day? You will hear that a lot once you announce your engagement. Having a date set for your wedding is crucial if you want to start planning, but remember that you can take as long as you need to make that decision. When the two of you sit down and discuss a date for your wedding, think about what kind of celebration you envisioned, and pick a season that would be suitable. Keep in mind other upcoming events such as birthdays, vacations, weddings, pregnancies, or graduations that might cause a conflict. Some religions have restrictions on the days you can marry. Even if a religious restriction isn't an issue for you and your mate, it may be for a guest or someone in your bridal party.
Do you want to have a garden ceremony in Spring, or perhaps a Fall wedding at a bed and breakfast? Holidays can help add special meaning to a wedding planned during that season, and supply great decorating ideas. Weddings during holidays can also add stress. For instance, at Christmas everyone would be trying to plan for a wedding and do the holiday shopping and baking, as well. You and your fiance will have to be the judge of your own situation and family to determine what is the best plan for your celebration.
Whatever day you and your fiance choose will be perfect. As you begin planning and making phone calls, don't be surprised if the date is booked. Sometimes it is best to start shopping around for locations a year in advance. If you don't have the luxury of time, don't fret! It is possible to plan a great wedding in only a few short months.
It also may be a good idea to decide on one or two alternate dates in mind so that when you start calling wedding vendors and sites you have a few options. Remember that this is your special day and although you shouldn't have to settle, some compromises may ease the path to the alter.
