One of the key ways to understanding why YHWH or God acts the way He does is to acknowledge Him as our heavenly Father. As an earthly father will react to his children in certain aspects of righeousness, so does our heavenly Father act towards us. We are His Children. Like a little child, some of our requests will either be left unanswered or refused.
Prayers left unanswered are entirely frustrating, but sometimes prayers are not answered according to our timing. -Though it is true some prayers are left unanswered by YHWH or God. For instance, a couple of years before I met my dear husband, I was dating a chasidic Jew. We had a lot of problems, but at that time I could not see that we were not meant to be together. I know now that had I ever married him as I had intended I would have been truly unhappy. Some prayers cannot be answered because sometimes what we want or feel we need is entirely different than what YHWH or God has in store for us.
YHWH or God is the author and the finisher of all. He is the ultimate supreme being knowing all and never once changing. He knows the past, the present and the future. Nothing is hiding without His knowledge. YHWH knows what is best for us, and most of the time we will ask for things that would be detrimental in the end, in some form or fashion. YHWH has a definite plan for each and everyone of us. What this walk consists of most of us do not know. It would be easier if we acted as if we were little children who whole-heartedly depend upon our Creator, but we do not. Even Yahushua/Jesus said that we needed to come unto the Father as little children do. Instead, we act as if the world is in our own hands, as if YHWH or God has little or no control. We even pray and act in this simple-minded manner.
If we were to depend upon Him in a greater manner and change the way we pray, fewer prayers would be left unanswered. Prayers should not be commands nor should they be requests for materialistic wants. Scripture tells us we should not worry as the flowers of the field and the birds of the air do not worry. They know that they will be provided for by the Creator. Our prayers should only reaffirm that YHWH or God is in total control and that only His Will be done.
9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one."*
*Matthew 6:9-13 using the New Internation Version.
