Tips on how to write articles that earn money

by Doreen Martel

Chances are that if you are writing articles, you are not writing them to kill time.  You are writing articles to promote something or to make money.  The big challenge for article writers is making sure that the articles they write are written to ensure that they make money.  There are a variety of ways to make money on your articles and each has different requirements. Let us explore some of the types of articles that will make money and then we will discuss how to write them so they continue to earn money.

1.  Current events - If you are a news junkie, you can make money by posting articles about breaking news on your blog or in the "My News" area of Helium.  These types of articles will make money in the short run, though in the long run individual articles may not be significant money makers.  These articles will make good revenue up front and will appear in searches for people looking for additional information about specific news stories.

2. Evergreen articles - These are articles that do not fall from vogue. The evergreen articles are those that are "timeless".  You can write about personal finance, ecology topics, making money, sports, books and a variety of other topics which simply never fall out of favor. These articles will likely earn you money not only in the short run, but in the long run as well.

3. Trends - There are many topics that are "trending" topics that are not necessarily classified as "current events". You can use Google to determine what the "hot topics" are. These might include subjects like "winter", "summer events", "Christmas", etc.  These articles are likely to earn well up front and could be dormant for several months and resurface again as an earner during the next season.  These can be great articles to add to your portfolio.

These are the three typical types of articles that result in earnings. Now let us explore how to make sure that these articles earn money for you.

1. Well written - Each article that you write should be well written. Those who wish to write articles that earn money have learned that typographical errors, grammatical errors and improper word usage can impact their article earnings.  Sloppy articles do not get referred to friends or social networks which results in lower earnings.  Write your articles, proofread them, proofread them again and then publish them.  Sometimes it is better if you leave the article a day before you publish it.

2.  Keywords - Writing articles that use keywords naturally will help you earn money.  Properly using keywords is important. If you do not use them naturally, your articles will not be read more than one time.  Keyword stuffing can actually mean that your articles may earn up front but will not continue to bring you regular earnings.  The last thing you want is your article to not sound natural because you have stuffed your keywords.  Keywords can and should be used in the natural progression of your article.

Summary

To write articles that earn money you have to have an overall plan to do so. Well written articles are the real secret of success.  Remember, writing takes practice and the more you practice, the more likely you are to write articles that earn money.
