The Key to having a happy relationship is being happy with you. Some people go out there looking for Mr or Mrs Right in the hopes that they will find happiness around the next corner. Of course, we know it is not always true, so why do we go from one person to another looking for this state of happiness? It is because we are ignoring the main ingredient to being happy. Loving who you are, what you are and what you look like should be your number one priority. It is believing in yourself and seeing for the first time that someone can love you just as you are. You do not have to keep looking for that special someone, you just have to find out what makes you happy and go after it.
When it comes to relationships, you want someone who is your cheerleader in everything you do. One who loves you unconditionally no matter what failures may come your way. Someone who does not berate you or say you should have done it this way, stupid! A happy relationship comes from having respect for the other person’s feelings. Sometimes you will have to sacrifice what you want to keep them happy and vice versa. It is a give and take one hundred percent to reach a level of optimal happiness. The key to life is being happy, the key to a happy relationship is knowing who you are, what you want out of life and finding someone that wants to walk the same path as you do. Even if you have different interests, you can still be there for one another, through thick or thin.
A happy relationship knows how to communicate with one another, even when angry. You can scream and yell if you need to, but make sure you make up with each other and do not hold grudges or discord inside. Having friends and family that support the relationship can enhance your happiness. If you have people around you who are negative and always trying to sabotage your relationship, it will cause it to be on rocky ground and you will suffer from it all.
We cannot always keep everyone happy so keep that in mind. If someone has a beef about your significant other, try to find some common ground, or cut off the relationship with him or her. Nevertheless, make sure what they say is true. If they are encouraging you to go forward in a relationship by telling you it’s time for marriage. Do not sweat it. The right time will come when you are ready to settle down, you will not have any major doubts clouding your judgement.
A happy relationship allows total freedom to each person, to grow and develop his or her career goals, personal goals and family goals. It is a good idea to be on the same page when it comes to having children, what religion you want and what type of lifestyle you plan to have before you dive into any kind of a relationship.
Even those platonic, lover styled relationships can develop into a love, marriage, so make sure it is with the right person before you head down the road to matrimony.
