Schizophrenically skittish, she stealthily scales the stairs.
Hidden in the darkness of a nighttime cloak,
Those veiled eyes of onyx, prowling for her next victim.
Her claws in ready mode like opaque hooks for gouging flesh.
Twitchy ears flicker as if she suffered a nervous tic.
Her pitter-pat paws pace aimlessly away
As she kills the hours of night on insomniac patrol.
Her panicky stomach leaves warm surprises
For unsuspecting bare feet—Hairballs!

Stretch and leap,
Down to the floor.
Preen soft grey fur,

I sleep, I eat, I sleep some more
I'm always watchful at the door
There isn't anything I miss
Except my empty cat food dish
