Nowadays there is a lot of entertainment to choose from for teenagers. The wealth of choice was not there for those of us who grew up in the nineties. When we were not out with friends, doing homework or chatting on the phone, we watched T.V. The following are the pick of the shows that we got to watch in the nineties.
10) Kenan and Kel: A popular but incredibly silly teen comedy show, it centred around two best friends Kenan Rockmore and Kel Kimble. The show ran for four seasons and was set in Chicago. The show very often centred around Kenan's part-time workplace, the grocery store and involved some bizarre incidents. It was mainly the wacky humour and the good chemistry between the two leads that made this show work. What made this show a little different from Sweet Valley High was the warmth of the central character; Cher Horowitz. Though a privileged and sometimes spoilt teenager, Cher had no maliciousness and felt no superiority over anyone else. She loved helping her friends and befriending outcasts. She stood up for other teens and through all this she became an unlikely but credible role model.
7) Home and Away: This Australian show has been running since 1988 and remains most popular with the teenage demographic in the U.K. and Ireland. The show has always been a little over the top, always dramatic rather than comedic and always with a largely young cast. It has never been afraid to confront
