Is quality important for any business?
I believe quality IS important for any business, big or small. There are a couple of different qualities in a business. Let's have a look at them:
1. Quality of customer service: This is the category where we can put how the employees interact with the customers.
Lets look at the following example: Recently my husband and I went to stay for a mini vacation at a hotel. While the hotel room was very presentable and all the amenities of the hotel were wonderful, one of the employees was very rude and was giving not only us the attitude but also other people who stayed at the hotel. If the employees of any business have a bad attitude toward their own coworkers and customers it will make them feel like they're not welcome at the business.
2. Quality of knowledge in any business: The quality of knowledge the employees possess in any business. How many of us have found ourselves in the following situation: You go to a store looking for a specific product that you heard from your brotherinlaw. Now you are not really sure where it is or how it looks like. So while you are "shopping blind" you decide to ask one of the employees for help. You come up to employee with the hope that he or she knows what you are talking about, you might even have that puppy/lost look on you face, and all you get from the employee is that he/she is seasonal and just stock and does not really know anything about what you are talking about. Oh, what a bummer. Now you are standing there and deciding whether it's worth the trouble to even go look for the product yourself or just leave the store and go to another store, with the hope that in the other store you will find the knowledgeable employee. Yes, "Knowledge IS Power".
3. Quality of a product: Oh, yes any of us can relate to the following scenario. You want to buy a certain product at high end store, but heard that the "product look-alike" can also be found at a regular store. Price-wise you are ready to buy the look-alike. Is quality the same? Not necessarily. Let's pick a product-men's watches. While I was ready to buy any "good looking" watch, my husband had to inform me that not all are the same. He also informed me about a couple of facts like water resistance, life warranty and etc, that need to be taken in consideration when buying a men's watch. So while I may buy a look alike from Macy's, for a cheaper price, I am better off adding more money and buying a watch that would last my husband for a longer time.
Above are just some examples of quality that can be related to any of the businesses out there. Whatever the quality might be in a business, it is one of the important factors that contributes to a business' success or failure. Customers rely on quality in the business and sometimes would not mind if the price is higher.
