“Valentine for Johnny”
Gathering lace and paper to create,
loving memory for the special date.
Pink, red valentines for a lost friend,
departed in childhood, loyal to end.
Just you and me, our chalk at hand,
swirly drawings on driveway, grand!
Hopscotch, Kool-Aid, hide – n – seek,
time did not know which day of week.
On one sunny day, you went far away,
when your ball rolled out in the street.
Then out of the blue, before we knew,
a car knocked my Johnny to concrete.
Never did I, get to say my last goodbye,
my pal and buddy, gentle smiling soul.
Unto this day, so restless in every way,
my thoughts I do try eternally to console.
With scissors in hand, lovingly molding,
pasting remembrances, a life beholding.
Hold each reflection, simple paper heart,
echo our times together, as if never apart.

Skin so soft as cotton wool
Beautiful silky hair greased together
Cute little nose, lips and gorgeous eyes
Fingers and toes
Innocence in a sense died that day.
Die as we cried for the sake of the other who was left behind.
The unkind hand of fate

Dearest Children
Birth and death
Grow out of life
Who plants them
We do not really know
But God is our answer
Birth we let it
Death of a loved one is all about one and two.
Don't cry your loved one is not far away,
so why not ask them to sit with
