The first thing I noticed about World Of Warcraft play is that gold is scarce for the average player. Everything you want costs gold, silver or copper to do, such as raising your profession skills, purchasing gear, purchasing reagents, potions, trade goods, you name it... if you don't know how to create an income in WoW, you're going to be struggling the whole time you play it.

Some people make a living with their professions, some people use abilities their class has such as mages selling portals to different cities, etc. You can also make money by selling things on the Auction House in every major city. However, this article is about showing you how not only to make a living in WoW, but to make a fortune in gold by following a few simple steps each day.

Making money with professions can be tricky, it depends on the profession. Certain ones, like skinning make tons of money just going around skinning their kills. Others like Enchanting have to sit in town and post in the trade channel all day to make it happen. Mining and skinning are the most straightforward ways to make money in the game with professions. You just mine gold, mithril or whatever and sell it. Some professions are not good at making money, such as alchemy. I have a 300 alchemist and I can't give potions away in the auction house. They don't sell unless they're healing potions or really high level specialty potions. The best way to make money with an alchemist is transmuting thorium bars and arcane crystals into arcanite bars.

Tailoring is a good one, you can sell the bags you make for a good profit most of the time, especially the higher level ones. Most of the gear you make with tailoring is not that profitable though.

Ok, let me get down to the absolute best way to make money in WoW. First, you need to get a copy of Auctioneer, which is an addon for WoW. You can download it for free at www.auctioneeraddon.com and it's just some folders you have to unzip into your addon folder in your World Of Warcraft file folder. Once that's done, you fire up the game and go to the nearest auction house (AH).

You will find a new button or two in your auction screen; you'll see check boxes next to the different kinds of items (weapons, armor, trade goods, etc.) and what you need to do is to uncheck container, consumable, projectile and quiver and leave everything else checked. This is what will be scanned for. The unchecked lists don't sell or don't make a profit, and will speed up your scan.
