There is no life after you, my love.
Yet love and life both carry on.
I know that you're gone, but
I hear a noise and I think
Maybe it's you coming home
I jerk to my feet,
I don't have tea on yet,
And then I remember.
I sit on the porch until long after dark,
And weep in my chair, next to yours.
Here in the midnight,
Nobody knows I'm alone.
There is no life after you, my sweet.
No reason for me to go on.
I think of some secret I'm longing to share,
As soon as I get home to you.
I long for your touch,
How I jumped at your voice
On the answer machine message last night.
I must be half crazy
But it's true, my sweet love,
There is simply no life after you.

That is
LIFE AFTER LOVE
there was no life,
I promised you,
if I could not be your wife.
I promised I would die,
most brutally,
