Best attractions in San Diego, CA

They say an easy career choice is that of a San Diego TV weatherman. All one has to do is to memorize the line, “70 degrees and sunny outside” and repeat nightly. This reputation makes San Diego an easy choice when it comes to travel destinations. With a plethora of things to do, San Diego has some of the best attractions for anyone on any budget.

The two higher profile attractions available to San Diego visitors are Sea World and Legoland. As with any other amusement park, admission to each of these two attractions will cause the Benjamin’s to fly like an eagle from your wallet. However, you can’t deny the enjoyment your family will experience, and at Sea World, the kids may learn something too.

Another high profile attraction is the famous San Diego Zoo. Its coupling with the Wild Animal Park makes for the finest zoological experience available in the United States today. Curious children and adults alike will fascinate at how much there is left to learn about our planet’s creatures.

Of course for those who don’t want to spend a lot of money, you can’t beat the 70 miles of pristine Southern California coastline. San Diego surly has its share of quintessential beach communities, where board shorts and flip flops are required attire. A few of my favorite beaches include Coronado, Ocean Beach, La Jolla, and Encinitas. Surf’s up, dude.

For those who enjoy alternative water activities, check out the various excursions from San Diego Bay, including bay tours of the infamous Coronado Bay Bridge, Star of India, and San Diego’s military powerhouse, 32nd Street Naval Base. You can also catch an off-shore one or two day fishing excursion departing from either San Diego Bay or Mission Bay. For the more subdued, you can rent a small motor or sail boat in either bay to enjoy an exquisite sunset over a nice chardonnay.

If the nightlife is your bag, San Diego’s Historic Gaslamp Quarter has much to offer. From high end hotels, nightclubs and restaurants to flop houses, dive bars and pizza joints, you can definitely find what you are looking for in the hustle and bustle of Downtown San Diego. You will also find in this area Horton Plaza, a shopping marvel of architectural delight, and Seaport Village, which borders the bay and is full of quaint little mom and pop shops. Of course, if the season is right, you can catch a Padres game at PetCo Park, San Diego’s contemporary Downtown baseball stadium.
